RIDGELEY, W.Va. — Messiah Christian Academy students in grades six through eight on Sept. 18 helped Delores Ridenour remove flowering plants from a local garden beside the scenic railroad tracks.
The bulbs will be stored and replanted for next year.
“Ridenour does a great job beautifying Ridgeley,” MCA seventh grader Grace Liller said.
“Many of my fellow students remarked that they were happy to play in the dirt instead of being in class,” she said. “We sang, joked, talked and had a good time as we worked. Some enjoyable moments were pushing each other in wheelbarrows, the brief stop at Nelson Auto, and some boys were seen belly flopping into leaves.”
The students were proud to help in Ridgeley, Liller said.
“Learning to serve is one of the top priorities of Messiah,” she said. “We are looking forward to doing more activities and community service projects like this one. Everyone had an amazing day working, hanging out with each other, and serving. It was a privilege to work and learn from Mrs. Delores Ridenour.”
