NORTH ANDOVER – It’s not a surprise to many college basketball fans and experts when it was announced today that Merrimack College basketball star Adam “Budd” Clark had entered his name into the transfer portal.
Clark, coming off two weeks of honors, including first team All-MAAC and first-team All-District Team (North Atlantic), elevated his game to another level in this, his sophomore season.
The reigning Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Year finished second in scoring in the MAAC this winter at 19.8 points per game, adding six assists per game to the final ledger.
He led the Warriors to a second place finish in Merrimack’s first season in the MAAC at 14-6, just a game out of first place, and 18-15 overall. Merrimack was upset in the MACC Tournament semifinals, 57-55 to Mount St. Mary, which won the championship and qualified for the NCAA tournament.
As for Clark’s next stop, it is expected he will get interest from all of the top conferences in college basketball.
Clark, 5-foot-10, will also be in line to pick up a decent NIL offering, with programs allowed to pay players a fee each year.
