ANDOVER — The Merrimack Valley YMCA will host its 34th annual auction gala, Growing Together, at 6 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Andover Country Club, 60 Canterbury St.
The event will feature three-time, Emmy Award-winning executive producer and on-air talent Jenny Johnson as guest auctioneer.
The gala includes an auction, dinner and cocktails with proceeds supporting the Merrimack Valley YMCA’s youth development programs across Lawrence, Methuen, Andover, North Andover and Salem, New Hampshire.
Serving more than 75,000 people annually, the YMCA provides life-changing opportunities through youth programs, memberships, camps, child care, food pantries, community impact initiatives and more.
“This event brings the community together to invest in programs that help children and families thrive,” President and CEO Francis Kenneally said. “With Jenny’s help as auctioneer, we’re looking forward to an unforgettable night that will strengthen our ability to serve.”
Johnson is widely known as co-host of NESN’s “Dining Playbook,” “Meet Boston with Billy and Jenny,” and WBZ’s radio program” Food for Thought.” Deeply involved in the community and passionate about causes including health and wellness, Johnson will bring energy and excitement to this event.
The gala is supported by presenting sponsor Watts Water Technologies. Weight loss clinic now takes insurance
SALEM, N.H. — Transition Medical Weight Loss, a historically private-pay program, is now taking insurance from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna and Cigna.
Over the last few years, the team has helped people in the greater Salem community lose weight and improve their health in meaningful ways. The business has been voted the Best Weight Loss Center in New Hampshire for the past few years.
“This change makes our program much more accessible for families in the area who might not have been able to take part before, said Clinical Supervisor Joe Zucchi.
More insurance providers will be added in the coming months.
Drop-in Center receives grant
PLAISTOW — The Vic Geary Drop-In Center with the help of a $10,000 grant from the Derry Wolverine Dream Foundation has replaced the main entrance’s 45-year-old doors with automatic doors to ensure senior visitors easy access to the building.
The drop-in center is a nonprofit senior center serving the towns of Atkinson, Danville, Hampstead, Kingston, East Kingston, Newton, Plaistow and Sandown, providing seniors with a friendly environment to meet and socialize.

PELHAM — The Scoop Shoppe last week celebrated the grand opening of its newest location on Beaver Brook Way with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

WINDHAM — The Southern New Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and the Salem Co-operative Bank gathered on Aug. 20 at the Castleton Banquet & Conference Center to celebrate remarkable women in the community.
