The Merrimack College men’s basketball team dropped its last game of the regular season on Saturday afternoon to Sacred Heart University 89-85.
Jordan Derkack had a team-high 27 points. The sophomore guard also had nine rebounds and five assists. Samba Diallo finished with a career-high 21 points after going six-for-nine from the field. Adam Clark was the third Warrior in double figures with 11 points in the defeat.
The Warriors (19-11) will now take on Long Island University on Wednesday night in Lawler Arena in the first round of the Northeast Conference tournament. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
Merrimack defeated LIU twice this season, an 82-79 overtime win back on February 8 and then an 83-63 win on February 17.
In the other match-ups of the tournament, which all begin on Wednesday night, No. 1 Central Connecticut hosts No. 8 St. Francis (PA), No. 3 Sacred Heart will host No. 6 Wagner and No. 4 Le Moyne will host No. 5 Farleigh Dickinson.
