DANVILLE — Just when everything in the NJCAA Division II Tournament looked to be a showcase for the higher seed, March Madness was unleased on the No. 1 seed Des Moines Area Community College.
The Bears could not find any answers for Ellsworth College in a 86-69 loss in Wednesday’s quarterfinal at Mary Miller Center.
Jayden Pretty had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Panthers, while Tanner Breggren had 18, Jonovan Wilkinson had 11 points and Dan Pembele added 10 points.
Malcolm Bragg had 18 points and four assists for DMACC, while Hunter Gawron had 12, Landen Norris had 11 points, Brent Taylor had 10 points and Kaden Tate had 11 rebounds.
The Panthers are 27-7 and will play in the semifinals on Friday against either Pima Community College or Iowa Central College.
The Bears drop to 32-2 and will play in consolation bracket action on Friday at 3 p.m.
