DANVILLE — In a NJCAA Division II National Tournament quarterfinals which has already seen the top two seeds lose, it was time for the No. 4 team to fall.
No. 5 Iowa Central was able to rally in the second half to get past No. 4 Pima Community College 78-77 on Thursday at the Mary Miller Center.
Jordan Cain had 25 points and three steals for the Tritons, who were down 43-35 at halftime, while Jalen Wynter had 18 points, Tashun Pender had 15 points and 11 rebounds, Aleix Sempere had nine points and 11 rebounds and CJ Mitchell had seven assists.
Isaiah Hill had 25 points and two steals for the Aztecs, while Mason Hunt had 21 points, seven rebounds and two steals, Brock Mendoza had 15 points, 12 rebounds and six steals, Issac Johnson had 10 points and Gerron Graham had five assists.
Iowa Central is now 28-6 and will take on Ellsworth Community College (27-7) in Friday’s first semifinal at 6 p.m. Ellsworth took down No. 1 seed Des Moines Area Community College 86-69 on Wednesday in the first quarterfinal game of the tournament.
Pima is 33-1 and will play Palm Beach State, who was the No. 2 seed, on Friday at 1 p.m.
