The Medina Triennial, an international exhibition of contemporary art featuring more than 100 works across 10 locations along the Erie Canal in the Village of Medina is officially open to the public.
The free event combines artist residencies, year-round public programming, and a large-scale, summer-long, village-wide art exhibition.
“Medina has always been a crossroads of cultures, stories, and ideas, and the Medina Triennial is our way of honoring that legacy while looking boldly to the future,” said New York Power Authority President and CEO Justin E. Driscoll.
The Triennial brings world-class art and creative programming to Medina and helps “reconnect people to the canal’s story — past, present, and future,” Driscoll said.
“The Medina Triennial is a powerful example of how art, infrastructure, and community can come together to strengthen local economies, attract tourism, and celebrate one of New York State’s most enduring assets.”
Many of the works presented in the Triennial explore ideas of maintenance, repair, ecology, stewardship, and collective responsibility — themes that closely parallel ongoing work required to sustain the New York State Canal system itself.
The inaugural 2026 Triennial is titled “All that Sustains Us,” and features more than 100 artworks across 10 sites in Medina, curated by Kari Conte and Karin Laansoo.

• Triennial Hub (former NAPA Auto Parts)
• Floating barge in the Erie Canal basin
• YMCA, Sacred Heart Church
• Medina Memorial Hospital
• Medina Theater
Regular hours throughout the summer will be from noon to 6 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays through Sept. 7.
Programs, maps and other information on the Triennial will be available to visitors at the Triennial Hub on North Main Street.
