A body found in the Niagara River near Youngstown on Saturday has been turned over to medical examiners for an examination and identification.
State Park Police were advised of the discovery of the body by Canadian authorities around 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Both US and Canadian authorities responded to the incident. New York State Park Police immediately deployed a drone to monitor the location and track the body.
The body was recovered from the water by State Park Police and the U.S. Coast Guard near Youngstown and brought to the Coast Guard Station-Niagara where they were met by State Park Police, New York State Police BCI, and the coroner.
Identification is pending the medical examination.
