Medic Regional Blood Center reports that its current O-positive and O-negative blood inventories are critically low.
“This means there is less than a two-day supply in inventory,” said Kristy Altman, Medic’s vice president of communications and public relations. “Donors who are healthy and well are encouraged to donate as soon as possible.”
Medic serves Cumberland Medical Center, as well as all hospitals through Covenant Health. It also serves hospitals and facilities affiliated with Tennova Healthcare, University of Tennessee Medical Center, Blount Memorial Hospital, LifePoint Health, East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, Sweetwater Hospital Association, Rennova Health, Pineville Community Health Center, and Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Cumberland County is among the 22 counties served by Medic. All blood and blood products donated through Medic stays in its East Tennessee and Southeastern Kentucky service area.
