MANKATO — Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato earned a spot among the nation’s 50 best hospitals in recently released ratings.
Healthgrades released its 2025 list of top 250 hospitals Tuesday, measuring facilities based on clinical outcome, patient safety and patient experience measures. The Mankato hospital has finished in the top 100 since 2023 and this was the second straight year in the Top 50, according to Healthgrades.
A Top 50 finish denotes a hospital being in the top 1% in the country.
The ratings, looking at about 4,500 hospitals in total, can be a tool for patients looking for quality care, said Dr. Brad Bowman, chief medical officer and head of data science at Healthgrades.
“While there are several factors to consider when looking for a doctor, hospital quality is one that can have a critical impact on a patient’s overall quality of care.”
A previous report by Healthgrades recognized Mayo in Mankato and River’s Edge Hospital in St. Peter for specialty care. Mayo was a top 100 finisher in critical care, gastrointestinal care and pulmonary care, while River’s Edge finished top 100 in joint replacement and orthopedic surgery.
Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus was the other Minnesota hospital finishing in the top 50 overall in 2025.
