LAWRENCE — The MassHire Merrimack Valley Career Center has moved to a new, convenient location in Lawrence to better serve residents seeking employment services and career counseling.
The Greater Lawrence Community Action Council, Inc. and the MassHire Merrimack Valley Workforce Board celebrated the move with an open house Wednesday at the Career Center’s new home, 439 South Union St., Suite 208.
GLCAC was selected by the Workforce Board to operate the Career Center beginning last July 1, and soon after began searching for a new location. The South Union Street center offers more space than the previous location, on‑site parking, and access to multiple public transportation routes.
“This move improves accessibility and convenience for residents, removing barriers that can make it difficult for them to reach out for support,” said Vilma Martinez-Dominguez, GLCAC’s CEO and Executive Director. “The new central location will make it easier than ever for individuals to take advantage of employment resources and counseling services that will give them the tools they need to advance their careers and achieve greater economic stability for themselves and their families.’’
“The open house showcases the power of partnership in action. Every day, the MassHire Merrimack Valley Career Center helps residents overcome barriers, develop new skills, and connect with quality employment opportunities. At the same time, we work closely with employers to address workforce needs and support regional economic growth. We look forward to welcoming the community and highlighting the many services available to help individuals and businesses succeed,” said Frank Bonet, Executive Director of the Merrimack Valley Workforce Board.
The MassHire Merrimack Valley Career Center is a vital resource for job seekers, employers, and the broader community, providing access to career counseling, job training programs, skill-building workshops, and connections to local employers.
As the new operator, GLCAC will build on the center’s strong foundation to expand services, enhance partnerships, and ensure that residents of the Merrimack Valley have the tools and support they need to thrive in today’s competitive job market.
In addition to moving the center’s services to South Union Street, GLCAC has relocated its Workforce-Adult Development Extension program to the same address. Digital literacy courses and advanced-level ESOL classes are now held in nearby Suite 205, bringing together Career Center and GLCAC services to meet the needs of job-seeking residents.
