MANKATO — A Mankato woman convicted of a felony drug offense has been sentenced to just over nine years in prison.
Casey Ann Voneschen, 49, was sentenced Wednesday in Blue Earth County District Court to just over nine years at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Shakopee after being convicted on one count of first-degree drug possession, according to the sentencing order.
She received about three months credit for time already served and charges of first-degree drug sale, fifth-degree drug possession and possession of dangerous weapons were dismissed, the sentencing order states.
The conviction stems from a March investigation by the Cannon River Drug and Violent Offender Task Force. A search warrant authorized March 13 allowed law enforcement to search Voneschen and her vehicle.
Agents located the vehicle March 18 and made contact with Voneschen when she approached it. She indicated controlled substances and drug-related items were inside the vehicle, according to court records.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of multiple plastic bags containing substances that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, totaling about 95 grams. Investigators also recovered about 7.4 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, a digital scale, packaging materials and hypodermic needles.
Authorities additionally located an electronic incapacitation device and pepper spray during the search.
Court documents alleged Voneschen admitted to selling controlled substances in ounce quantities for between $250 and $300.
Voneschen previously was convicted of first-degree drug sale in April 2022.
