MANKATO — A Mankato teenager who is among the people charged in connection with the shooting death of Tyson Goodsell was released from the Martin County Jail after posting bail.
Ryan Robert Wolner, 18, of Mankato, was released after posting bail, according to court records, which also show a Blue Earth County warrant for Wolner was quashed, or recalled, on July 10. Wolner is facing violent felony charges in Blue Earth and Nicollet counties.
Court records show bail was set separately in the pending cases, but is at a total of about $2.5 million. Wolner faces charges in Blue Earth County alleging he attempted to bribe a witness and a victim in an aggravated robbery case.
The witness tampering allegations stem from the Nov. 30, 2025 armed robbery and kidnapping case in Mankato. In that case, Wolner reportedly robbed a victim at gunpoint, threatened the victim with a handgun, forced the victim into compliance and transported them while taking cash and other property.
Court documents state investigators recovered a firearm and allege multiple individuals participated in planning or assisting with the incident.
Wolner reportedly offered a witness $2,000 to persuade the victim to recant his statement and offered the victim $5,000 to do so, according to the criminal complaint. He instructed the victim to record a video stating he never saw a gun and was not afraid during the incident. Investigators later recovered the video, but the victim told law enforcement the statements were false and that he remained fearful during the robbery.
Wolner is charged with nine total counts in Nicollet County District Court in connection with the May 23 shooting death of Tyson Goodsell in North Mankato. His release comes as Nicollet County prosecutors filed a notice July 7 stating they intend to seek an “enhanced sentence” if Wolner is convicted. According to the filing, the state alleges aggravating factors including that the offenses were committed as part of a group of three or more active participants and involved a high degree of planning.
Wolner must surrender all firearms as a condition of his release and the order states that if he violates any release conditions, he could be arrested, forfeit his bail, face additional criminal charges or be held in contempt of court. The release conditions remain in effect until modified by the court or until the criminal proceedings conclude.
He is scheduled to make his next court appearance July 23.
