MANKATO — Alex Davis Olson, 26 of Mankato, has been convicted of felony theft for taking and using property without consent in a Waseca burglary where around $12,000 in property was stolen, including a firearm, crossbow and two car generators.
Olson was sentenced Thursday to serve 15 months at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud. He will serve 16 days in Waseca County Jail with credit for time served and will remain under supervised probation until June 2028.
Olson was originally charged with second-degree burglary and receiving stolen property, but those charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement. The burglary occurred in August 2024 and Olson was formally charged that September. He pled guilty to the theft charge in April.
As part of the conditions, Olson must abstain from drugs and alcohol, submit to random testing, have no contact with the victim and complete cognitive skills assessments.
