MANKATO — A Mankato man will serve over three years in prison for disseminating pornography involving a minor and a kidnapping attempt.
Dalton Redning, 24 of Mankato, was sentenced in Blue Earth County court to serve 41 months Monday, with credit for 413 days already served.
He pleaded guilty to one charge of kidnapping to commit great bodily harm and another count of disseminating pornographic work involving a minor under 14.
In the attempted kidnapping case, court documents state that on April 3, 2024, Mankato officers were dispatched to a Mankato business to investigate a report that “someone almost got kidnapped.”
At around 1:35 a.m., the victim was standing and working on paperwork when Redning approached him from behind, placed his right hand over the victim’s mouth and his left around their abdomen.
Court documents say Redning then began pulling the victim toward the exit and said, “Be quiet. Come with me or I will hurt you.”
The victim then began to fight back, eventually pushing a shopping cart toward Redning, who left the business and fled on a bicycle.
