NORTH MANKATO — Kylinn Stangl allowed one earned and struck out eight in a complete game for the top-seeded Mankato East softball team in 4-1 victory over Simley in the Class AAA quarterfinals on Wednesday at Caswell Park.
The Cougars got an early lead with two runs in the second inning, which ended up being enough. Emily Hacker had a hit, an RBI and a run scored for East, while Jayda Swalve added a hit and a scored run.
The Cougars will play the winner of Becker and Rocori in the Class AAA semifinals at 6:30 p.m. today at Caswell.
