A man in his 60s was airlifted by Mercy Flight out of the Niagara Gorge on Saturday after he was injured in a fall.
The injured male was found by fishermen, who alerted authorities around 11:20 a.m. It appeared that he had fallen down and embankment, according to reports from the scene.
Niagara Falls Firefighters, New York State Parks Police, and an AMR crew hiked down the gorge and made contact with the man, who apparently had suffered a serious head injury. After assessing the male’s injuries and condition, a request was made for Mercy Flight.
The Mercy Flight helicopter landed inside the gorge on Flat Rock. First responders assisted loading the male into the helicopter and he was flown to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.
