LOCKPORT — A 63-year-old man died Sunday after being rescued from the Erie Canal on Friday near Upson Park. The man’s daughter said her father suffered a heart attack.
According to Police Chief Steven Abbott, officers responded to a 911 call at 6:35 p.m. Friday of a man falling into the canal and possibly drowning. Abbott said Lockport firefighters were called in and resuscitated the man and he was then transported to Lockport Memorial Hospital.
A passerby described the man as swaying near the edge of the canal before he fell in the water.
