WASECA — Waseca police responded to an incident in which a vehicle was reportedly rammed in an apartment parking lot, leading to assault and property-damage charges.
Fernando Samuel Garcia Trejo, 28, of Waseca, has been charged in Waseca County District Court with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and damage to property.
On Nov. 16, he confronted a person known to him at their residence and then used his vehicle to strike theirs before leaving the scene, according to the criminal complaint.
Officers found the victim’s vehicle with front-end damage and leaking fluid.
Three occupants, including a 2-year-old, were inside the vehicle at the time of the collision, according to the complaint.
Officers located a matching vehicle at an apartment complex, where they noted front-end damage and a warm engine.
Trejo denied driving to the residence and claimed the damage was old. Others told officers he had been at the apartment all day but declined to provide identification.
The estimated cost to repair the reported damage to the victim’s vehicle was $1,144 before taxes, the complaint said.
