MANKATO — More than 9,300 ballots — for mail ballot precincts and requested absentee ballots — for the Nov. 5 election have been mailed to residents in cities and townships throughout Blue Earth County.
Ballots for the election are expected to arrive soon in the mail of voters who reside the following precincts:
Cities: Amboy, Good Thunder, Pemberton, Skyline and Vernon Center, as well as the Blue Earth County sections of North Mankato and Minnesota Lake.
Townships: Beauford, Butternut Valley, Cambria, Ceresco, Danville, Garden City, Jamestown, Judson, Lincoln, Lyra, Mankato, Mapleton, McPherson, Medo, Pleasant Mound, Shelby, Sterling and Vernon Center.
Absentee ballots for the election also have been mailed to voters who have requested them. Residents in these precincts who have not yet registered to vote must to register to receive a ballot by mail.
Instructions and witness requirements are included with the mailed ballots.
Ballots must be returned in the postage-paid envelope or dropped off at the Blue Earth County Elections Office no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day, which is Nov. 5.
Blue Earth County Elections Office is in the Historic Courthouse, 204 S. Fifth St. Regular hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Extended hours are slated Oct. 26 (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.), Oct. 29 (8 a.m. to 7 p.m.) Nov. 2-3 (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Nov. 4 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

State law allows any eligible voter to cast an absentee ballot for any reason. Voters should register in advance no later than Oct. 15 to be considered pre-registered for the election.
