Mayor-elect Paul Lundberg will take the oath of office on New Year’s Day in an inaugural ceremony at Gloucester City Hall.
The ceremony Thursday will also include the swearing in of city councilors and School Committee members who prevailed in November’s general election. The program at Kyrouz Auditorium at City Hall begins at 1 p.m. City Hall is at 9 Dale Ave.
Lundberg’s electoral win in November saw the defeat of two-time incumbent Mayor Greg Verga. The inaugural ceremony is expected to be attended by dozens of Lundberg’s supporters, family and well-wishers. Also expected to be present will be a number of Verga associates, as well as city department heads and staff members.
City councilors, who will take the oath of office on their new two-year terms, include incumbents Dylan Benson, Marjorie Grace, Tony Gross, Jason Grow, Frank Margiotta, Scott Memhard, and Sean Nolan, and newcomers Hannah Kimberley and Patti Page.
On the School Committee, incumbents Kathy Clancy, William Melvin, Melissa Joy Teixeira Prince and Laura Wiessen were returned to office in November, and they will be joined on the committee for the next two years by Heather Dagle and Andrea Liacos. Lundberg, as mayor, will serve as the seventh member of the committee.
The ceremony will also be streamed live by 1623 Studios for those unable to attend in person. The YouTube URL is www.youtube.com/live/SYAJh9KziLo.
