TRAVERSE CITY — Hip hop star Ludacris will close the final night of shows at this year’s National Cherry Festival, organizers announced Wednesday.
The performer plays on Saturday, July 11 on the Pepsi Bayside Music Stage, with tickets starting at $68 and sales beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, May 15.
Born Christopher Brian Bridges, Ludacris is known for songs like “Money Maker and “Stand Up” and for featuring on worldwide hits like Usher’s “Yeah” and Justin Bieber’s “Baby.” He is also known for his recurring role as Tej Parker in the “Fast & Furious” franchise, appeared in the ensemble film “New Year’s Eve” and is the creator and star of the Netflix animated series “Karma’s World.” He broke into the music industry as a radio DJ in Atlanta in the 1990s.
Executive Director of the National Cherry Festival Kat Paye said closing out the festival with Ludacris was a good way to wrap the 100th anniversary festival and that the rapper “brings an incredible level of energy and star power.”
Ticket prices are $68 for general admission, $93-128 reserved seating and $193 for the VIP deck. Details and sales at cherryfestival.org
