From left, Larry Pahl, Lynn Pahl, Ken Snyder and Saundra Snyder were the last people to play tennis on the two outdoor courts at Druid Hills Golf Course on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
Demolition began on the courts Aug. 29 to make way for the improvements at Druid.
Both couples came out the last evening out of nostalgia, to play one last time. They didn’t plan this together.
Larry and Lynn have played on the Druid courts since 2020 when they moved to the Glade from Chicago. Ken and Saundra have played twice a week there since 2017. All four now play at the Fairfield Glade Racquet Center regularly.
Saundra has been in the area since June 2005 and has had to say goodbye to not only the Druid courts, but also two courts at Dorchester, and the tennis courts at Crossville Centennial Park which now are for pickleball only.
