Golf Country’s Joe Rocha was the top player with local connections at the Senior PGA Professional Championship at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Rocha, the Lynnfield native and former St. John’s Prep standout, scored 75-76 for a 151 total and missed the 36-hole cut by a single stroke. Ninety-nine players in the 300-player field shot six-over-par 150 or better to advance for the final 36 holes.
Salem Country Club’s Kirk Hanefeld, a two-time winner of this championship, shot 74-79-153, while Kernwood’s Frank Dully returned 75-79-154 and Hatherly’s Chip Johnson, whose parents grew up in Peabody (dad Ken) and Salem (mom Anne Clancy), scored 80-77-157.
