FIELD HOCKEY
Gloucester 5, Danvers 0: Any win for the Fishermen over their rivals from Danvers is cause for celebration, and this particular one was no different as sophomore standout Mia Rodolosi scored a hat trick to power her team to an easy victory.
Fiona Black, a sophomore forward, notched the other two goals for GHS. Liv Madruga, Ashlyn Orlando, and Makayla Allen also had great games for the winners. Senior standout Keagan Jewell picked up the shutout in net.
Manchester Essex 1, Ipswich 0: In a battle of traditional Cape Ann League powerhouses, senior captain and Holy Cross committed Abby Kent scored the game’s only goal early in the third quarter, allowing the host Hornets to prevail.
Goaltender Maeve McArdle, a sophomore, stopped seven Ipswich shots — with five of those coming in the final quarter — to keep Manchester Essex unbeaten at 3-0.
Hamilton-Wenham 1, Rockport 0: The Vikings put six clean shots on the Hamilton-Wenham cage Monday at Ryan Curley Field, but couldn’t put one past their goaltender in a Cape Ann League shutout loss.
VOLLEYBALL
Georgetown 3, Gloucester 0: Junior captain and outside hitter Jocelyn Maddalena had two kills and an ace in the first set of the Fishermen’s 25-15, 25-17, 25-6 setback. Freshman middle hitter Reese Cahill and junior captain Sara Fernandes, another outside hitter, added one kill apiece in that first set. In addition, junior setter Kadijah Kaba and swing defensive specialist Isabella Tarantino each had an ace on second set serves for GHS.
GIRLS SOCCER
Danvers 8, Gloucester 0: The powerful Falcons proved too much for Gloucester to handle in a Northeastern Conference loss. Junior Abby Desmond played well at fullback before moving in between the pipes to play goalie over the final 40 minutes of action. Freshman Rosie Telep also had a strong afternoon playing both outside midfield and forward, while sophomore Ava Borowick worked hard trying to get past a stingy Danvers defense.
GOLF
Gloucester 42, Rockport 30: Sam Kesterson won the battle at No. 1 for the Vikings (5-4) while Louis Iacono also won 5.5-3.5.
Amesbury 149, Rockport 135: After four straight victories to open the season, the Vikings (4-1) finally tasted defeat by falling to the hosts at Amesbury Country Club. Nolan Bace led Rockport with 29 points, Sam Kesterson had 25 with a birdie and Will Carlson carded also carded a birdie to finish with 22. Solomon Rich added 22 as well.
