BOYS BASKETBALL
Gloucester 77, Beverly 73: The Fishermen survived a 36-point explosion from Beverly standout Jacob Klass, improving to 5-3 with the big conference road win. Nick Deleon was fantastic in his own right, leading Gloucester with 26 points of his own while Andrew Cribbs, Charlie Amero and Carlos Velazquez all reached double figures in the scoring column as well.
BOYS HOCKEY
Triton 11, Rockport 2: Ben Ranier scored both of Rockport’s goals in the tough setback on Wednesday evening. Assists went to Ryan Fazio, Danny Brophy and Grayson Minich. The Vikings will look to bounce back on Saturday when they host Amesbury at Talbot for a 6 p.m. start.
WRESTLING
Beverly 40, Gloucester 38: Despite the close conference loss to their rival Panthers, the Fishermen got some standout performances across the board. Gloucester’s freshmen class in particular stood out: Joe Amero (106 pounds) and Cam Russell (138) both won huge matches via pin. Senior heavyweight Chris Laine won an impressive match against a state ranked opponent to remain undefeated at 10-0. Other important wins came from Aiden DeCoste, Anthony Murawski, Joe Allen and Max Thomas. Thomas at 215 is now state ranked and has already won two major tournament with only one loss on the season.
