The Pentucket golf team needed every single point on Monday.
And for a first win of the season, what a way for it to happen.
But with two-time Daily News All-Star Noah Meyer leading the way with an impressive 35 quota points, the Panthers were able to just squeak past North Reading for the 159-157 victory. Logan Artus was right behind with 29 points for the Panthers (1-4), while both Reece King and Greg Plisinski came home with 25 points.
Amesbury golf back to .500
After a pair of setbacks in a row, the Amesbury golf team got back on the winning track on Monday.
And as a result, the Redhawks are back at .500.
Thanks to 31 quota points from Gus Headrick, Amesbury was able to do just enough to take down visiting Rockport, 149-135. Jack Kusler was right behind with 30 points for the Redhawks (2-2), while Will Ouellet came in with 23 points.
Clean sweep for Newburyport volleyball
That’s now two in a row for the Newburyport volleyball team.
On Monday evening, the Clippers remained poised during plenty of pressure moments to earn the sweep over Essex Tech, 3-0. The first two sets were 26-24 thrillers, before the Clippers (2-1) handled the third set more easily, 25-16, to take home the match.
Gabby Vigeant had a strong game at the net with 11 kills, while Lucy Rimer had a solid serving day with 3 aces. The Clippers will look to make it three in a row when they host Pentucket on Wednesday (5 p.m.).
Another balanced day for Newburyport golf
The high-end talent paired with the depth makes this Newburyport golf team scary.

Out in front earning match medalist was Jack Oreal with 33 quota points, with the trio of Gavin Goich, Jackson LaCava and Will Cotter right behind him with 28 points.
The Clippers (2-0) will next host Hamilton-Wenham at Rowley Country Club on Wednesday.
