Jared Berardino was at a new university this spring, but he certainly didn’t forget how to play baseball.
The former Triton star had a successful three-year playing career at Assumption University, where he hit a combined .335 (126-for-376) with 98 RBI and 13 home runs. But following an injury that forced him to miss his entire senior season for the Hounds, Berardino transferred to Bentley University ahead of this school year with two years of eligibility remaining.
But even after a year away from baseball, the bat stayed hot.
Berardino helped Bentley (33-15) set a new regular season wins record this year, hitting .329 (48-for-158) with 34 RBI, 14 doubles, 2 triples and 6 home runs. He was named NE-10 Second Team All-Conference, as well as earned a spot on the NEIBA All-Region Team.
Katelyn Hadden earns honor for SNHU
It was another fantastic season for Katelyn Hadden on the lacrosse fields.
The Newburyport native is now a graduate student at Southern New Hampshire University, and was recently named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) East All-Region Second Team.
Hadden, who was an IWLCA East All-Region First Team choice last season, is the sixth player in program history to earn the honor in back-to-back years. She also became just the fourth member of the program to receive NE10 All-Conference First Team honors in back-to-back seasons as well, as she started all 17 games and notched 94 points on 49 goals and 45 assists. She led the NE10 in points, while ranking second in assists, sixth in goals, eighth in draw controls (61) and 12th in ground balls (31).
Hadden’s 94 points and 45 assists are second on SNHU’s single-season list.
