NEWBURYPORT — Indivisible-RISE Newburyport volunteers on Friday and Sunday protested the federal government by holding signs and flying flags on the Route 113 overpass facing both sides of Route 95 in Newburyport.
“A growing group of citizens here and around the country feel compelled to get out the message that it is time for all of us to be out there peacefully resisting the dangers posed by the Trump administration and the unelected Elon Musk,” co-organizer Debbie Hart-Klein, said.
Another co-organizer, Ann Haaser, called the displays ways of showing “deep and patriotic love” for the country.
“We are resisting by calling out the rampant, illegal, and unconstitutional power-grab that is threatening our economy, health, and right to free speech,” she said.
Indivisible-RISE Newburyport is a group of approximately 1,400 citizens dedicated to electing Democrats at the federal, state and local levels, and to working for justice and democracy. It is a chapter of Indivisible, the leading national organization for cultivating a grassroots movement to support progressive policies and influence legislative change.
