Tennessee Trails Association’s Plateau Chapter has hikes of about 5-8 miles every Wednesday, and two Saturdays per month. The hikes are open to public participation, ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Wednesday, Aug. 5 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. CST
Daddy’s Creek section along Hebbertsburg Road
This is considered a short hike of only 2.5 miles. The trail runs from the power lines to the yellow gate parking lot. A long hike is available as we go the 2.5 miles and another two miles to the overlook ending at the yellow gate.
We will depart at 7:30 a.m. from the northeast Grove parking lot off of Stonehenge Lodge Dr. in the Fairfield Glade Community (left off Peavine Road onto Fairfield Blvd, then left on Stonehenge Lodge Dr.) Carpool gas cost is $2.
Hikers should wear hiking boots or shoes. Please bring hiking poles and rain gear (just in case). Also, bring plenty of (electrolytes) water, and a snack/lunch. Don’t forget tick/bug spray and sunscreen.
People aged 18 and over, members, and non-members are welcome. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. All participants will need to sign a waiver before hiking. Wartburg Visitor Center toward Frozenhead State Park
Wartburg, TN.
Whether we go on the long hike of 7-8 miles will be dependent on the current temperatures. The short hike will be 4-5 miles. This hike is moderate in difficult, out and back through the woods.
The CTC is working to finish the trail all the way to Ross Gap in Frozenhead. We can eat lunch at Tanners Historic Cafe or stop at MOCO Brewery.
We will depart at 7:30 am CST from the southwest corner parking lot of Cracker Barrel in Crossville. The carpool cost is $5. Hikers should bring hiking poles and rain gear (just in case). Bring plenty of (electrolytes) water, and a snack/lunch. Don’t forget tick/bug spray and sunscreen. People aged 18 and over, members, and non-members are welcome. Thursday, Aug. 13 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. CST Plateau Chapter Meeting First Methodist Church Annex/Neecham St. in Crossville, TN
This is an added meeting; we will still have another one in September, which will more than likely be another picnic. This meeting will be of paramount importance, as we will be discussing each committee’s progress and what is needed moving forward as we near the hosting of the annual conference.
Wednesday, Aug. 19 7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. CST Window Cliffs State Natural Area Baxter, TN.
This moderate 5.6 mile in-and-out hike will take us into the gorge cut by Cane Creek. There is a lovely stream that we will need to cross nine times in and nine times out to reach Window Cliff Falls and then the spectacular “windows” in a cliff.
Hikers should wear sturdy hiking boots/shoes that you plan to get wet. There will be an optional stop at Farmers’ Storehouse Flour Mill and Bakery in Sparta on the way home.
We will depart 7:30 a.m. CST from the rear, southwest corner parking lot of Cracker Barrel in Crossville. The carpool cost is $5. Please bring hiking poles and rain gear (just in case). Also, bring plenty of (electrolytes) water, and a snack/lunch. Don’t forget tick/bug spray and sunscreen.

Saturday, Aug. 22 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. CST Hebbetsburg Road Crab Orchard, TN
The long hike is 6-7 strenuous miles, a gradual trail heading up, out and back with very nice views. The short hike is 4 strenuous miles out and back.
We will depart at 7:30 a.m. CST from the northeast Grove parking lot, off Stonehenge Lodge Dr. in the Fairfield Glade Community. (You can find it by going left off Peavine onto Fairfield Blvd, then left on Stonehenge Lodge Drive). The carpool cost is $2.

Wednesday, Aug. 26 7:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. CS Martha’s Pretty Point Scott’s Gulf State Park
The hike begins at the Virgin Falls trailhead and leads to Martha’s Pretty Point Overlook. The trail is well-maintained and well-shaded, but be prepared for some steep sections and wooden ladders. Your effort will be rewarded with great views over Scott’s Gulf and the Caney Fork River.
We will depart at 7:30 a.m. CST from outer parking lot of Harbor Freight parking lot at 145 Highland Square in Crossville. The carpool cost is $4.
