MANKATO — The local Federal Emergency Management Agency office will close for good Thursday night.
The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center, which opened in the Blue Earth County Justice Center to assist people harmed by summer flooding, will be staffed from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday before closing permanently 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Even after the closure, people can apply for FEMA assistance online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362.
In addition, low-interest disaster loans can be sought through the U.S. Small Business Administration at SBA.gov/disaster. Those loans are available to homeowners, renters, businesses and nonprofits and can provide funds for needs not met by FEMA grants or insurance settlements.
