BOYS HOCKEY
Gloucester 1, Lynnfield 1 (OT): Fresh off a competitive 2-1 setback to Medfield in the Cape Ann Savings Bank Holiday tournament this past weekend, the Fishermen went toe-to-toe with a strong Lynnfield squad and walked away with a hard earned point. Sophomore Jackson Harnish had the lone GHS goal on a feed from freshman Bryce Albano.
“A step in the right direction,” said Gloucester head coach Derek Geary, his team now 2-3-1. “It was a good result on the road against a quality team that beat us 6-2 at that barn last year.”
Gloucester benefited from some stellar goaltending from junior Trey Marrone, who finished with 30 saves. The Fishermen generated 23 shots on net of their own, but did take some untimely penalties in the third period.
Now it’s on to Marblehead, with that clash slated for a 6 p.m. start at Talbot Rink on Saturday evening.
