ROMNEY, W.Va. — The Lighthouse Christian Academy boys soccer program could not have asked for a better start to its inaugural season.
Competing in their first tournament appearance, the Seahawks traveled to Hampshire High School for the FNB preseason tournament and posted a perfect 4-0 record to claim the championship.
Lighthouse opened tournament play with a dominant 4-0 victory over Berkeley Springs before defeating host Hampshire 3-0. The Seahawks continued their run with a 2-0 win over Southern and capped off the championship weekend by defeating Hampshire 5-0 in the final match of the day.
The Seahawks’ success was fueled by outstanding team play and several individual honors.
Sammy Scritchfield was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, while Peyton Poland earned Goalkeeper of the Tournament honors after helping lead a defensive effort that did not allow a sgoal throughout the event.
Elijah Ziler and Silas Leith were both selected to the all-tournament team for their exceptional performances.
The rest of the all-tournament team consisted of Hampshire’s Kolton King and Pearce Berkeley, Southern’s Alijah Sheppard and Jaxson Corbin, Berkley Springs’ Kyle Blond and Austin Gentile, and Frankfort’s Noah Weaver and Van Ritchie
