On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Dalton-Whitfield County Public Library will celebrate Free Comic Book Day along with May the Fourth in a joint event, May the Free Comics Be With You.
This free, public event brings together “Star Wars” and comic book fans. There will be a variety of themed crafts/activities, a screening of a movie and therapy dogs to read to.
Jillian Beazer, Children’s coordinator, has been organizing the event and shares, “Comics and ‘Star Wars’ hit so many fulfilling beats with their fans, such as the adventures, storytelling, characters or the experiences surrounding them. We hope to see plenty of people here to mingle, enjoy and come dressed in their nerdy best.”
So grab your lightsabers and capes for a time of creativity and adventure. Patrons are encouraged to dress up. Free comic books will be provided by the library and Free Comic Book Day.
The following screenings and special programs will be available to all Jedis and superheroes in training:
• 10 a.m. to noon: Heroes with PAWS reading event.
• 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.: “LEGO Batman” screening.
The Friends of the Library will also host its monthly book sale to help support and raise money for books, program materials and Summer Reading.
