TO THE EDITOR: The Issue: petition for a two‑way stop Ssgn at Clinton Street and Marion Street.
We, the undersigned, respectfully request the installation of a two‑way stop sign at the intersection of Clinton Street and Marion Street to improve safety and prevent future tragedies.
Adding a second stop sign is a simple, inexpensive, and effective measure that would increase driver awareness and reduce the likelihood of accidents. This intersection is used daily by drivers, pedestrians, and families who live nearby, and it deserves the highest level of protection.
Currently, Clinton Street has the right‑of‑way as a straightaway, while Marion Street is the only street that stops. This configuration has proven dangerous. There have been multiple accidents and numerous near‑misses, demonstrating that the existing traffic pattern is inadequate.
This request is not only about preventing future accidents — it is also about honoring the life of our son Ronnie.
In our case, the truck driver on Marion Street failed to stop at the existing stop sign and drove directly into our son’s path.
While we cannot know with certainty whether a two‑way stop would have saved him, it is clear that the current setup does not provide sufficient protection for anyone who uses this intersection.
We believe that adding a stop sign on Clinton Street would create a safer, more controlled intersection and significantly reduce the risk of future collisions. No family should ever endure the unimaginable, heart‑wrenching pain and loss we have suffered. No community should accept a known hazard when the solution is clear, reasonable, and achievable.
We urge the appropriate municipal authorities to take immediate action to install a two‑way stop sign at Clinton Street and Marion Street.

TO THE EDITOR: I read the letter from Mr. Kaifetz published July 21 concerning Ausable Acres in Jay.
If the stated fact that the choice to fly specifically the American Flag in the community common area on a donated flagpole installation “might offend some people” and was thus rejected by the HOA Board is correct, then that should shock the moral conscious of most dedicated Americans.
I read the Acres by-laws “Covenants and Restrictions” section and nowhere is flags or flagpoles mentioned.
I know of the late Mr. Joe DeMarco thru his many published letters here. A military veteran like me, he was correct to speak of his concerns for our countries best course.
It should honor the Acres to accept the offer and proudly fly our American Flag. In the alternative, I strongly advocate for a name change from Ausable Acres to befitting Pampered Acres.

TO THE EDITOR: Over the years, I’ve had readings by and known people and had friends who know astrology, as well as the art of Tarot.
I have used sparingly yet have found it helpful in an over-arching way. I think they bring to their analysis of such signs their own artistic revelations and insight and combine it with specific empirical indications from the science of these tools. One, though, told me that the highest tier of the practice was to get to where one breaks through these tools, living above the realm of them. That was the highest level of being.
We may take a great work of classical music, take a whole class on it even, and minutely define every intricacy of the harmony and composition. But when the composer scrawled it down on paper, whether with modern gel pen or ink pod and quill, they were writing it as an ancient person might have picked up a clam, looked at it and decided to see if it could be eaten.
And rather than brutal and brute grunts heard after taking in the delicacy, I assume this early person’s utterances of pleasure were far more bell-like and musically pleasurable than even our own singing.

TO THE EDITOR: I love some of the freedoms we can still enjoy in this democracy of ours today, especially the freedom of speech. I hope we can keep it and cherish it.
He lied to our people to win the 2024 election. Are you going to still believe him when he tells you the elections are rigged?
We here in the USA have prided ourselves in election integrity until this certain someone planted seeds of doubt when he lost the 2020 election fair and square and could not accept the losss
One thin-skinned bull, if you ask me.
Be not afraid: Fascists thrive on fear. United we stand.
