As we approach the 2024 elections, voter registration is more important than ever. Before you can exercise your right to vote, you must be registered, and this crucial first step ensures your voice can be heard on Election Day. Yet too many people put it off or don’t realize how essential it is.
Voter registration is the foundation of our democracy. Without it, you can’t participate in the decisions that impact your daily life — from local school boards and city councils to state and federal offices. It’s how you make your voice count in shaping the future of our community, state and country.
Registering to vote is simple, but it’s often overlooked until it’s too late. Don’t let deadlines sneak up on you. To vote in the upcoming November election, in Georgia, you must be registered by October 7. You can register by mail, in person at the Whitfield County Registrar’s office located inside the courthouse, or online at https://mvp.sos.ga.gov/s/. You will need either (1) a valid GA Driver License with signature on file with Department of Driver Services or (2) a DDS issued identification card with signature on file with DDS.
Take a few minutes today to confirm that you’re registered or to register if you’re eligible, but haven’t already. And remember, if you’ve moved or changed your name, you may need to update your registration to ensure everything is current.
If you care about the future of our community, the environment, healthcare, education or any other issue, the first step to making a difference is registering to vote. Encourage your friends, family and neighbors to register too. Every person who registers adds strength to our democracy.
The time to act is now. Register to vote and take the first step toward shaping the future you want to see.
