Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will temporarily close Lawson Road beginning Monday, Feb. 2.
The closure is part of the bridge construction and paving project on Hwy. 127 from north of I-40 to near Potato Farm Road. This closure is necessary to install a new drainage pipe and realign Lawson Road.
The work is expected to take about two weeks, weather permitting.
Lawson Road south of the work area will remain open to local traffic for access to Cline Road, while Lawson Road north of the closure will be accessed via a detour using South Tabor Loop Road.
Detour signage will be posted to guide motorists safely through the area.
During the work, the existing corrugated metal pipe will be removed and replaced with a 43-by-48-inch reinforced concrete pipe.
Drivers are advised to plan ahead, expect delays, and use caution while traveling through the work zone.
The entire project is scheduled for completion this fall.
