NEWBURYPORT — A new cohort of Great Marsh Artists Fellows has been chosen by jurors. There are seven grantees ($2,000) and one honorable mention ($1,000). As usual, there was difficulty drawing the line among the 18 applicants. Three of these fellows are also existing fellows, two moving to new phases of their projects and one embarking on a new project. In addition, two new fellows are composers and were jurors for the Artist in Residence for the Great Marsh Concert, plus contributing their work to the program.
Here are the Great Marsh Artists Fellows for 2026-27:
•Andrea LeBlanc: Music + Painting: Marsh Meditations, a series of short, place-based video works created in and around the Great Marsh, combining watercolor paintings and flute performance
•Isaac Grenader: Animation: Working with the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge as an animator and have an animation workshop which can bring the ideas of the marshland wildlife to the public in a fun way
•Jessie Jeanne Stinnett: Dancer: Developing Winter, Spring, and Summer for Four Seasons on the Great Marsh
•Marcia Ciro: Bookmaking: Finish and publish the book “Over Time: the Great Marsh” as well as a series of small edition artist’s books about the changing faces of the Great Marsh
•Michele Brody: Paper making: Community paper making workshops, reanimating fallen native trees through handmade paper castings using fibers from non-native plants
•Norah Solorzano and Alex Young: Puppetry: Create an experimental puppetry video piece, performed and shot on location in the Great Marsh environs
•Robert Honstein: Music video: Video scenes around The Great Marsh to be accompanied by the beautiful and serene fourth movement of his “The Great Marsh” for String Quartet
•Robert J Bradshaw: Meditation app: App focused on the Great Marsh
