SARANAC LAKE — Austin Lareau struck out 10 in six innings for the victory on Saturday and Saranac clinched the top seed in the Section VII Class B baseball tournament with a 9-3 win over Saranac Lake.
The Spartans (14-3, 11-2), ranked 16th in the state in Class B, scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back.
Zack Lucia and Brody Macomber paced the Spartans offensively with two hits each, and Seth Petrashune added a double.
Zack Goetz rapped a triple and single for the Red Storm, and losing pitcher Alius Martelle chipped in a double.

LYON MOUNTAIN — Brady Blair struck out four in three scoreless innings of relief to get the win for the Spartans.
Adrian Barnes, Landon Giroux and Max Coryer led Saranac offensively with two hits each, with Barnes and Giroux getting doubles.
Brayden Bushey and Jackson Bassett rapped two hits each for NAC, with Bassett driving in two runs. Reece Labarge took the pitching loss.
“It was a well-played game by both teams,” NAC coach Jason Bushey said. “Both teams put the ball in play and were strong defensively.
“The score was tied headed to the sixth inning and Saranac did a nice job with some clutch hits in the last couple of innings. Blair did a nice job of coming in and mixing his pitches, and keeping us off balance for the final three innings.
“I was proud of our effort ad performance against a very good Saranac team.”

AUSABLE FORKS — Lucas Kowalowski and Nate Baker had multiple hits for the Hornets, who scored six runs in the first, five in the second and six in the third.
The game was called with one out in the bottom of third third inning because of a thunderstorm and will not be made up due to the upcoming sectionals, giving PHS the victory.

BOLTON — Winning pitcher Ryan Roemer and reliever Jace Hubert combined on a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
The game was called in the bottom of the fifth, with two outs, due to rain.
Offensively, Jaxon Egloff accounted for two singles, a double and three RBI for the Eagles, while Sully Eager added two doubles and two RBI.
Cole Gay drove in a run for Boquet Valley and had his team’s only hit — a double.

INDIAN LAKE — The Orange scored seven runs in the second inning for a 7-1 lead and still held a 13-12 advantage after five.
However that’s when the roof fell in for Indian Lake/Long Lake when the Panthers erupted for nine runs in the top of the sixth.
Despite a combined 34 runs scored in the game, there were only a combined eight hits.
