The Lake Land College Nursing Department recently hosted the HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital Medical-Surgical Care team meeting at the Effingham Technology Center. Sixty nurses in attendance explored local opportunities to advance their education and enhance the quality of healthcare throughout the region.
During the event, nurses came together for hospital updates and collaborated in a variety of interactive activities to promote nursing education, including skills stations, competency checks and realistic nursing simulations with the college’s high-fidelity patient simulator. Attendees also learned about program options at Eastern Illinois University (EIU) and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) to continue their education, unlock new career opportunities and equip the community with a highly skilled healthcare workforce.
Lake Land College hosted the medical-surgical care team meeting with support from an Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) Nursing School grant, which seeks to increase the number of registered professional nurses with high-quality postsecondary credentials to meet the healthcare needs of Illinois communities.
