Kim Kuchenbrod is the new Executive Director of Downtown Danville, Inc. Kuchenbrod succeeds Annie Monyok, who has led the organization since July 2023 and recently announced her decision to step down after fulfilling her 15-month commitment.
Kuchenbrod brings over 20 years of experience in workforce development, economic strategy, and business partnerships to her new position.
(Kuchenbrod’s) roles at institutions like Northern Illinois University’s Center for Governmental Studies and Illinois State University have given her deep insights into the needs of local economies, talent pipeline development, and business collaboration. During her tenure at Vermilion Advantage, Kim worked closely with area businesses and educators, making her well-acquainted with the unique strengths and opportunities within the Danville area. Her leadership will focus on continuing the progress made in supporting small businesses, attracting new development, and enhancing the overall downtown experience, a news release states.
“I am honored to step into this role and excited to contribute to the future of Downtown Danville,” Kuchenbrod said. “The downtown district has tremendous potential, and I look forward to working with the board, business owners, and the community to keep the momentum going.”
Monyok’s tenure as Executive Director was marked by significant strides in revitalizing the downtown district, according to a news release. Her leadership brought the organization up to date on essential tasks, including eliminating the backlog of grants, reopening the downtown grant program, and reorganizing DDI’s financial structure.
Reflecting on her time with DDI, Monyok expressed her gratitude: “It has been an incredible opportunity to serve Downtown Danville, Inc. and to work alongside the board, small business owners, and the broader community. I am confident that Kim Kuchenbrod will lead the organization to even more success, given her extensive background in economic development and workforce talent management. Her experience and forward-thinking approach are exactly what the organization needs as it continues to grow.”

“We are excited about the positive impact our grant program can have on downtown revitalization, and we hope to see even more property owners get involved. The next two weeks are critical for submitting applications,” Kuchenbrod said.
