A Knox County man who fled from troopers trying to take him into custody on a warrant from Putnam County ended up with half a dozen charges in January.
Last Tuesday, he pleaded guilty in a complex sentencing agreement calling for a 15-year prison sentence on a Range II plea with an agreed Range I of 30% parole eligibility.
Trevone Deshawn Boykin, 32, Knox County, pleaded guilty to possession of fentanyl with intent, tampering with evidence and vandalism of up to $1,000.
Charges of assault on a first responder, resisting arrest and driving on a suspended license were dropped.
All fines and court costs were waived, and Boykin is being given credit for 173 days already served in jail.
On Jan. 8, Tennessee Highway Patrol Troopers Donald Seiber, Leo Auger, Shane Ballet and William Morgan were involved in a pursuit on I-40. When the driver finally stopped his vehicle, troopers found drugs in the car. During the arrest, it was alleged Boykin fought with officers.
In June 2024, Boykin was arrested by authorities in Knox County on charges of maintaining a dwelling for drug use, possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of fentanyl with intent, simple possession of meth, tampering with evidence and driving on a revoked license.
He has since pleaded guilty to maintaining a dwelling for drug use and the Cumberland County charges are to be served concurrently with that sentence.
In other cases, the following guilty pleas were entered:
• Robert Lloyd Hardwick, 41, DUI and DUI per se, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence, is to serve seven days in jail, was fined $350, loss of driving privileges for one year, to completer all required classes and programs and placed on supervised probation for 11 months and 29 days. DUI per se was dropped.
The charge stems from a July 26, 2023, traffic stop by Lake Tansi Police Department and Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
• Samuel Lee Johnson, 52, charged with possession of meth with intent, pleaded guilty to sale of less than .5 grams of meth and received a six-year suspended sentence as a Range 1 offender to be served on supervised probation. Fine and court costs were waived.
The charge stems from Feb. 4, 2024, undercover drug purchase.
• Jesus Murillo, DUI and DUI per se, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and was fined $350, is to pay court costs, to serve 48 hours in jail or the Temperance Academy, loss of driving privileges for one year, to complete all required classes and programs ands placed on supervised probation for 11 months 29 days. DUI per se was dropped.
The charge stems from an April 15, 2023, arrest by THP Trooper Bobby Barker.
• Jamie Lyn Boles, 49, pleaded guilty to an information charging possession of more than .5 grams of meth for sale and received an eight-year sentence with furlough granted for long-term in-house treatment. Fine and court costs are waived.
The charge stems from a Jan. 24, 2025, traffic stop by CCSO during which drugs and paraphernalia were found. Other pending charges are dropped.
• Christopher Lee Denny, 51, pleaded guilty to an information charging two counts of theft of merchandise of more than $2,500 and received an eight-year suspended sentence to be served on supervised probation. He is to pay $5,967.08 restitution at rate of $25 per month. Fine and court costs were waived.
The charge stems from Oct. 6, 2023, and May 2024 shoplifting incidents at Lowe’s. He is banned from the business and pleaded guilty as a Range II offender. Remaining charges were dropped.
• Everett Lawrence Grant Jr., 67, pleaded guilty to an information charging possession of more than .5 grams of meth for sale and received an eight-year suspended sentence with one-year to serve at 75% and the balance on supervised probation. Fine and court costs are waived.
The charge stems from a July 3, 2024, arrest following execution of a search warrant on a Taylor’s Chapel residence during which meth was found.
• Tora Ann Whitson, 41, pleaded guilty to an information charging attempted false report and received a one-year sentence, set aside with qualification for judicial diversion. If Whitson successfully complete all requires of diversion and probation, she will be eligible to have the charge removed from her record.
Whitson admitted to filing a report with CCSO Deputy Cpl. Brandon Griffin Jan. 28, 2024, claiming to have been assaulted. It was later learned Whitson injured herself.
