Jerry Knight is a talented acrylic artist who will be featured in the Plateau Creative Arts Center during the months of December and January.
Knight grew up in East Tennessee and New England. While his career focus was in technology, he is a lifelong art lover and painter. He started painting about 50 years ago and never found a reason to stop. Largely self-taught, he learned from more experienced friends and tried to imitate better painters. Knight also studied painting at the Memphis College of Art.
Knight describes his inspiration as, “Have fun painting and try to create a picture that will make people smile.” His art includes many cute paintings as well as some with a more serious tone.
Knight and his wife, Betty, have been residents of Fairfield Glade for eight years. They enjoy horseback riding and hiking.
The Art Guild is honored to have Jerry Knight as the featured artist for December and January. Everyone is invited to view his artwork which will be on display at the Plateau Creative Arts Center, 451 Lakeview Drive in Fairfield Glade, Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (winter hours).
On Friday, Dec. 1, the Art Guild will hold the monthly Fun and Wine First Friday Reception from 5-7 p.m. at the Plateau Creative Arts Center. All are welcome to come to this free event and enjoy a glass of wine or a non-alcoholic beverage. You can meet Jerry Knight and other artists and learn more about everything the Arts Center has to offer while you enjoy the variety of artwork on display by local talented artists.
December will also feature a themed exhibit. Artists are encouraged to recycle an artwork and transform it into something new — revitalize an unfinished artwork or rework an artwork into something new.
Themed art exhibits are a great way to get a range of artists to exhibit their work together. Not only does it provide established artists with an event to present their work, but it also gives up-and-coming artists the opportunity to enter the art world. For these themes, it is the artist’s interpretation and choice of medium.
The Plateau Creative Arts Center/Art Guild is a not-for-profit 501(c) 3 organization and an equal opportunity provider.
