THOMASVILLE- Kilwins, the renowned confectionery and ice cream shop located at 119 North Broad Street, in the heart of downtown Thomasville officially opened its doors September 10th and is celebrating their grand opening and ribbon cutting on October 28, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. The event will be hosted by the City of Thomasville Main Street Office and Imagine Thomasville Chamber of Commerce.
Kilwins is famous for its assortment of hand-crafted chocolates, creamy, hand-paddled fudge, caramel apples, caramel corn and brittle, chocolate-dipped treats, and premium ice cream, all made with the finest ingredients. With a rich history dating back to 1947, Kilwins has been delighting communities with their irresistible confections for over 75 years. Like all Kilwins stores, Kilwins Thomasville features an open kitchen where customers can view products being freshly made. The store is a destination where customers can experience the nostalgia of an old-fashioned confectionery with a modern twist. From watching fudge being paddled on a traditional marble table to caramel being cooked to perfection in a copper kettle, guests have the opportunity to witness the artistry behind each sweet creation.
The store’s owners, Dwayne and Jackie Anderson, grew up in Southwest Florida, where the Kilwins store in St. Armands Circle in Sarasota was a regular stop that held many fond memories for their families. Dwayne retired from Florida Power & Light Co after 39 years of service, last working as an IT Group Manager providing communications solutions for disaster recovery operations. Jackie has been in the education field for 23 years, currently working at Georgia Connections Academy specializing in Literacy. She is also a part-time National Presenter for Learning Without Tears. The Andersons moved to Thomasville in 2021, and they are excited to bring the joy of Kilwins to their new home community.
Dwayne and Jackie are involved with their commercial building HOA in the historic area of downtown Thomasville, Imagine Thomasville, and hope to become even more involved in other local organizations. They are ardent supporters of the local school systems, and they are looking forward to being part of the beautiful downtown community.
Dwayne, Jackie, and their team would like to cordially invite the Thomasville community to be a part of their official grand opening festivities on Monday, October 28th. There will be free samples, specials, balloons for kids, drawings for Kilwins gift baskets, and more! The event promises to be fun for all ages!
