The Great Lakes Kitefliers will once again be taking to the skies as part of the 26th annual Kidz ‘N’ Kites event set to take place Saturday at Town of Niagara Veterans Memorial Park, 7000 Lockport Road.
The first 500 youth will receive a free kite, t-shirt and hot-dog lunch with first-come, first-serve registration beginning at 11 a.m. The event continues until 2 p.m.
Volunteers from the Niagara County Youth Bureau and Niagara County Department of Social Services will be on hand to help kids and adults get their kites into the air.
“This event has continued to be a staple on families fall calendar,” Youth Bureau Director Ben Bunker said. The annual event is sponsored by several community organizations and local businesses ensuring that the event stays 100% free for youth.
Members of the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, longtime partners of the event, will be on hand providing car seat safety checks while Niagara PAL will be cooking up the hot dog lunches.
Each youth will also receive giveaway coupons to local restaurants and will be entered in small and grand prize raffles. Entertainment will be provided by Nels Ross from Injest Inc, who has showcased his juggling magic for more than 25 years.
