KEYSER, W.Va. — Bibs Felton and Brielle Root each hit home runs, leading No. 5 Keyser to a 14-6 win in the Class AAA, Region 2 Section I playoffs over Hampshire on Tuesday.
Both home runs came in the bottom of the sixth and were solo shots.
Brianna O’Reilly led the Golden Tornado (17-7) going 4 for 4 with three RBIs.
Root went 3 for 4 with three RBIs while Felton, Ivy Bromhal, Mady McIntyre and Kailynn Burns each had two hits.
McIntyre earned the win in five innings, allowing five earned runs off three hits and seven walks with two strikeouts.
Chazalynn Keller and Kaitlyn Ferguson each drove in a pair of RBIs for the Trojans (6-19).
Both teams play Wednesday as Keyser plays at Frankfort (22-0) while Hampshire hosts Berkeley Springs.
Petersburg 19, Lincoln 0
PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Petersburg scored 18 runs across the first two innings, leading to a five-inning rout of Lincoln in the Class AA, Region 2 Section I playoff opener on Tuesday.
The Vikings (17-10) scored eight runs in the first and 10 in the second.
Ella Markwell led Petersburg with four hits and six RBIs while Shyane Tawney also recorded four hits.
Miley Tingler, Gracie Carpenter and Abi Nettles each had a pair of hits.
Moorefield 10, Philip Barbour 2
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — Moorefield only out-hit Philip Barbour 10-8, but turned them into runs in Tuesday’s playoff opener.
The Yellow Jackets (11-10) were led by Caroline Kump’s 4 for 4 day with two RBIs.
Gracie Simmons and Raleigh Kuykendall added two hits apiece.
Aryana Hinz earned the win in five innings, allowing two runs off eight hits with three strikeouts.
The Jackets head to Petersburg on Wednesday for the section final at 6 p.m.
