BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Keyser exploded for 12 runs in its first half-inning of the season, and it rolled to a 16-0 romp of Berkeley Springs Friday on opening day.
The Golden Tornado (1-0) added three runs in the second and one in the third, which proved to be the final frame in the run-shortened affair.
Keyser out-hit Berkeley Springs, 10-0.
Bibs Felton went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and three runs, belting a three-run big fly in the second frame — her first of the season after leading the state with 15 bombs in 2025.
Leighton Johnson doubled and drove in three runs, Brielle Root had two ribbies, Tavery Lyons singled twice, and Kailynn Burns scored three times.
Johnson and Mady McIntyre combined for three no-hit, shutout innings.
Kamryn Buck was dealt the loss for Berkeley Springs in the circle.
Keyser hosts Allegany on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Petersburg 17, East Hardy 1
BAKER, W.Va. — Ella Chew nearly hit for the cycle, and Petersburg pushed across 14 runs in the second frame in a three-inning rout of East Hardy Friday.
Chew, who is committed to WVU Potomac State, hit a two-run home run, tripled and singled, and Miley Tingler doubled.
Shyane Tawney and Gracie Carpenter also had two hits each for Petersburg (1-0).
Carpenter was the winning arm in the circle. She allowed a run on three hits in three innings with three strikeouts to one walk.
East Hardy’s Madison Strosnider took the loss. Bella Bauserman doubled and scored the Cougars’ lone run.
Petersburg hosts Clay-Battelle on Saturday at noon.
East Hardy (0-1) hosts Luray, Virginia, on Monday at 5 p.m.
University 10, Mtn. Ridge 0
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Mountain Ridge was tagged for nine runs in the first inning in a five-inning defeat to University on Friday.
Sophia Lehosit went 3 for 3 with a triple, double and two RBIs to lead University, and Lexi Elza and Taylor Casino tripled.
Maddie Campbell no-hit the Miners (0-1) across three perfect innings, striking out eight, and Casino threw two shutout frames in relief.
Destinee Johnson took the loss for Mountain Ridge in the circle.
Mountain Ridge hosts Keyser (1-0) on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
