KEYSER, W.Va. — Owen Rotruck scored three touchdowns to power No. 5 Keyser to a 49-8 rout of Lewis County on Friday at Alumni and Friends Field at Tornado Alley.
Keyser (1-1) led 19-0 after the first quarter, 39-0 at the half and 49-0 after three periods.
Rotruck found pay-dirt on touchdown runs of 90, 47 and five yards. Addison Brafford had a 57-yard TD run and connected with Dominik Crawford for a 62-yard aerial touchdown.
Grayson Lambka accounted for Keyser’s first touchdown, a 47-yard scamper, and Evan Key had a seven-yard jaunt for a score.
Keyser kicker Tommy Nash made a 30-yard field goal and was 4 for 7 on extra points — Lewis County blocked the three misses.
The Golden Tornado defense forced two turnovers on downs to set up touchdown drives, and Cam Owens intercepted a pass.
Lewis County, trailing 49-0, scored its lone points in the fourth quarter on an 18-yard Isaac Pickens run. Leo Jones ran in the two-point conversion.
Keyser hosts Robert C. Byrd (1-1) on Friday at 7 p.m.
Petersburg 66 Wyoming East 6
PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Payton Metheny threw for 214 yards and took part in four touchdowns, and Petersburg romped Wyoming East on Friday.
The blowout victory is Petersburg’s second straight after the Vikings beat Berkeley Springs, 56-13, in Week 1.
Metheny completed 13 of 24 passes for three touchdowns — eight yards to Kaleb Kuhn, 10 yards to Evan Tawney and 39 yards to Wyatt Chandler. Metheny added an 11-yard rushing score.
Micah Ertel led the backs with 125 yards on two carries, both touchdowns spanning 50 and 75 yards.
Kuhn also had a 14-yard rushing score and returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown, and Tawney found the end zone on a four-yard run.
Lukas Wolford finished with four receptions for 82 yards and had six rushes for 21 yards. Kuhn had three catches for 41 yards, Chandler caught two balls for 45 yards, and Tawney had three grabs for 32 yards.
Alex Halterman tackled Wyoming East in the end zone for a safety.
Petersburg is at Pendleton County (2-0) on Friday at 7 p.m.
Pendleton Co. 56 East Hardy 36
FRANKLIN, W.Va. — Pendleton County’s Colton Roberson tallied more than 400 yards of offense and six touchdowns in a win over East Hardy on Friday.
Roberson completed 11 of 22 passes for 237 yards, a touchdown and an interception, but he did most of his damage with his legs, rushing for 195 yards and five scores on 26 carries.
Chase Owens was his top target, hauling in five passes for 112 yards and a touchdown.
Roberson has 687 passing yards and six touchdowns on the season, adding 272 rushing yards and seven more scores.
Pendleton’s defense was led by Spencer Hartman, who returned an East Hardy interception 93 yards for a touchdown. Travis Owens returned a fumble 60 yards for a score, which was forced by Chase Owens.
East Hardy’s defense has allowed 135 points through two weeks, an average of 67.5 points per game.
Statistics for East Hardy were not provided.
East Hardy hosts Tucker County on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Elkins 45 Moorefield 6
ELKINS, W.Va. — The trio of Logan Beam, Jaden Hatfield and Seth Robinson combined for more than 400 yards and five touchdowns to fuel Elkins’ rout of Moorefield on Friday.
Beam rushed for 164 yards and a TD, Hatfield added 158 yards and three scores, and Robinson garnered 92 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Cyrus Kump, filling in at quarterback for the injured Brock Linville, led Moorefield with 82 rushing yards.
Moorefield (0-2) hosts Hampshire (1-1) on Friday at 7 p.m.
