TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City’s second act hasn’t been quite as good as the first.
The Kenosha Kingfish took the first three contests of a four-game series by sweeping a doubleheader in Tuesday’s Northwoods League baseball game at Turtle Creek Stadium in Traverse City.
The Kingfish (19-26 overall, 5-5 second half) won 8-6 in 10 innings to claim their second extra-inning win over TC in two days in the opener, then took the nightcap 12-4.
Kenosha has won four of five matchups with the Spitters (25-19, 4-6) this season.
Nathanael Coupet had three hits and Brandon Sanchez, Cole Prout and Payton Bookwalter two each to account for all but one of the team’s base hits in the 8-6 loss. Nathan Webb and Trevor Landen each tossed five innings, allowing three earned runs.
Adam Broski went 3-for-4 in the nightcap setback, with Prout and Aaron Piasecki adding two hits each.
Third baseman Grady Mee made his fourth appearance this season as a mop-up pitcher, throwing a clean ninth inning.
He hasn’t allowed an earned run in 4.1 innings.
The final game of this series takes place Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.
The two teams play six more times after that this season, including four in a row against each other July 24-27, with two contests in Traverse City and then two in Wisconsin.
