SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Central School District Board of Education is pleased to announce its selection of Joshua Dann as the next superintendent of schools.
Dann is expected to officially begin July 1.
He currently serves as principal of Saranac Lake High School and is a long-time member of the district.
Over the course of more than 20 years in the SLCSD, he has also served as principal of Petrova Elementary School and dean of students at Saranac Lake Middle School, providing him with a comprehensive K–12 perspective.
He began his career as an elementary teacher in Syracuse and holds advanced certification in educational leadership from Syracuse University.
“The Board of Education would like to extend its sincere thanks to all of the candidates who participated in the superintendent search process,” the board said in a press release. “We are grateful for the time, effort and interest shown by each individual and appreciate the engagement of our school community throughout this process.”
Dann was selected for his understanding of the district, leadership experience, and relationships with students, staff and families across the Saranac Lake community. The board expressed confidence in his ability to lead the district forward while maintaining a strong focus on student success and community connection.
“I am truly honored and humbled to serve as the next superintendent of the Saranac Lake Central School District,” Dann said in the release. “Saranac Lake is a community that cares deeply about its students, its staff and families.
“As superintendent, my focus will remain on supporting our students and staff and continuing to build a culture where everyone feels valued and connected. I’m excited for what lies ahead and proud to continue serving this incredible community.”
As part of the search process, finalist candidates participated in a series of interviews with stakeholder groups including faculty, staff, students, families and community members, in addition to the board of education.
